Army Medical College Rawalpindi Admissions 2025-26: An Overview

If you want to become a good doctor and also serve in the army, Army Medical College (AMC) in Rawalpindi is a great place to join. But getting admission here can be confusing because the process has many steps. This guide will explain everything clearly for the year 2025-26. It will help you understand what to do so you can apply easily and with confidence.

Understanding the Gateway:

AMC has three ways to get admission: NUMS Cadet (NC), Medical Cadet (MC), and Paying Cadet (PC).

  • NUMS Cadets must take the NUMS Entry Test, now called “MDCAT for NUMS,” on October 16, 2025. The old MDCAT test is not needed for this.
  • Medical Cadets take the Army Test to check if they can serve in the army medical corps.
  • Paying Cadets also need to pass the NUMS Entry Test.
Knowing these categories and their tests is the first step to apply to AMC.

Laying the Groundwork:

No matter which category you choose, you must:

  • Be 17 to 25 years old.
  • Be unmarried.
  • Have finished F.Sc. (Pre-Medical) or equal with Biology, Physics, and Chemistry.
  • Have at least 70% marks in both Matric (SSC) and F.Sc./HSSC exams.
  • Be a Pakistani citizen, including people from Gilgit Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
These rules make sure that all students are ready and suitable for AMC.

Charting Your Academic Journey:

AMC offers many courses.

  • For undergraduates, there are 200 seats for MBBS (medicine) and 50 seats for BDS (dentistry).
  • For higher studies, AMC has FCPS, M.Phil, and PhD programs in different medical fields.
These courses help students become expert doctors and dentists.

Understanding the Investment:

Fees depend on your category:

  • Medical Cadets study free.
  • NUMS Cadets and Paying Cadets pay PKR 220,000 yearly.
  • Foreign cadets pay USD 12,000 yearly.
All students pay PKR 3,000 per month for hostel accommodation.
This helps you plan your money before joining.

Navigating the NUMS Pathway:

If you want to join as a NUMS Cadet, you must take the NUMS Entry Test. You can take the test twice a year and use your best result. Both boys and girls can apply. There is no intelligence test in this exam.
Steps:

  • Register online at nts.org.pk and pay PKR 3,000.
  • Send the printed form and payment receipt to NTS Islamabad.
  • Take the test on the day with your ID, admit card, clipboard, and pen.
  • Results come in about a week. Answer keys are on the NUMS website.
  • Admission marks count 50% from F.Sc. and 50% from NUMS test. You must score at least 70% in NUMS test.
  • After passing, get the admission form and prospectus (PKR 3,000) from AMC.
  • Fill the form, attach required documents, and submit it.
  • Check the merit list on the given date. If selected, visit AMC to complete admission.

Embracing the Call to Service:

Medical Cadet course is for boys who want to be doctors and serve in the Pakistan Army Medical Corps. The selection is like the Pakistan Military Academy. It has four parts: Intelligence & Written Test, Physical Test, Medical Test, and an interview by GHQ. Those who pass get a call letter from GHQ.
Benefits:

  • Monthly stipend of PKR 30,000 during study (5 years for MBBS, 4 years for BDS).
  • Wear the Khaki uniform.
  • After graduation, 6 months training at PMA Kakul.
  • Then you become a Captain and serve 13 years in the army.
Girls cannot apply for this category.
You must have at least 60% in F.Sc. and can try maximum 3 times.
To apply, register at Army recruitment centers or online (joinpakarmy.gov.pk) from June to July.
Tests include written test, physical fitness, medical exam, and GHQ interview (no ISSB).
The merit list is made from all tests. Selected candidates join AMC or other army medical colleges.
Medical Cadets sign a 13-year service bond with Pakistan Army.

A Legacy of Service:

Paying Cadet seats are for children of army, navy, air force, civil defense, or atomic energy staff (serving, retired, or martyred). Both boys and girls can apply.
They must take the NUMS Entry Test, but the merit is usually lower than NUMS Cadets.
Paying Cadets also wear Khaki uniform and must serve 3 years as Captain doctors after graduation.
To apply:

  • Get Paying Cadet form from GHQ, AHQ, or NHQ.
  • Fill it and attach documents like ID, academic certificates, and parents’ release letter if needed.
  • Submit it to the proper Head Quarters.
  • Register and take the NUMS test like NUMS Cadets.
  • Check results and merit list.
  • Get AMC admission form and fill it with required documents.
  • Check merit list at college and join if selected.

Welcoming Global Aspirants:

AMC also accepts foreign students and Pakistanis with dual nationality. They must have finished 12 years of education (FBISE, British A-Levels, Cambridge, or foreign high school) with 60% marks in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
They can apply by:

  • Taking the NUMS test (like NUMS Cadets), or

  • Foreign MCAT with at least 500 marks.
They buy prospectus (PKR 3,000), fill application, attach documents, and check the merit list.
Foreign Cadets do not have to sign any army service bond.

A Legacy of Excellence:

AMC started in 1977 and is now linked with National University of Medical Sciences (NUMS). The college teaches medicine well and helps students build good character. It offers many undergraduate and postgraduate medical and dental courses.
